Discover the nine projects coming to the City of Auburn as part of the city’s future Capital Improvement Plan.
Byrd Street Sidewalk
A five-foot-wide sidewalk will be constructed along the east side of Byrd Street from Martin Luther King Drive to Zellars Avenue. It will be approximately half a mile long and provide pedestrian connection alongside Byrd Street for Zellars Avenue, Tucker Avenue, Holmes Avenue and Dunford Avenue residents.

Duck Samford Park Restroom Renovation and Expansion
Fields 1-3’s existing restrooms will be enlarged to double the capacity and repairs will be conducted on the old plumbing. Plus, there will be additional improvements to the concession stand.

East University Drive Culvert Replacement at Summertrees Drive
The current corrugated metal culvert will be replaced with a new concrete culvert. The road will also be repaved along East University Drive at the Town Creek Crossing near Summertrees Drive.

Gay Street Streetscape
This project will consist of the demolition and construction of a new sidewalk, pedestrian lighting and landscaping on South Gay Street from Publix to Thach Avenue.

Moores Mill Road and Society Hill Road Roundabout
A new roundabout at the Moores Mill Road and Society Hill Road will mitigate traffic flow issues.

North Donahue Drive Widening – Shug Jordan Parkway to Saugahatchee Creek
North Donahue Drive will be widened from Shug Jordan Parkway to Saugahatchee Creek to a five-lane cross-section with a 10-foot multiuse path on the west and a five-foot sidewalk on the east. These improvements will result in dual northbound and southbound lanes, and a decorative mast arm signal system will be at the intersection of Shug Jordan Parkway.

Public Safety Training Center – Drafting Pit
Drafting pits allow for testing pumps on the fire apparatuses as well as demonstrations and training on pumping open water sources while conserving gallons of water. The pit can also be used for confined space drills when dry.

South College Street and Devall Drive Traffic Signal Installation
Another one of the nine projects coming to the City of Auburn is a traffic signal to be installed at the intersection of South College Street and Devall Drive to improve traffic flow near Auburn University Research Park.

Wire Road Turf and Auburn Softball Complex Turf Project
At the Wire Road Soccer Complex, the current grass staging area will be replaced, along with the existing dirt at the Auburn Softball Complex, to improve conditions for all-weather activities.
