ILJIN invests $100 million into an Auburn facility

Economic growth is coming to town! Yes, you heard that right. As ILJIN invests $100 million into an Auburn facility in the coming months, there will soon be a boost to the local economy with more jobs.

What is ILJIN?

A global leader in automotive, industrial parts and strain wave gear, ILJIN has led the wheel bearing market through innovation and growth since 1973. According to the website, they supply car manufacturers such as Hyundai, Kia, General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Benz, BMW and Maserati with safety and performance components.

About the ILJIN Auburn facility

ILJIN invests $100 million into an Auburn facility to expand reach, increase productivity and create economic growth within the market.

This new facility will employ about 160 people and allow the company to expand into aluminum forging. More specifically, this facility will produce forged aluminum control arms for several U.S. customers to be sent to the ILJIN facility in Greer, SC, for final processing.

But why Auburn? ILJIN invests $100 million into an Auburn facility to further increase the U.S.-made content of the company’s products for the North American market. Plus, ILJIN chairman DS Lee told reports that the company has benefitted from keeping its production in the Southeast and particularly found that the state of Alabama is the most productive, competitive and highest yielding of all their investments.

Location

So, where can you expect to see this upcoming facility? It will be in Auburn Technology Park North, a mile northwest of Exit 51, Interstate 85, and one-half mile northeast of Exit 50, Interstate 85. This park is home to six other national and international companies, including other automotive parts makers.
