A longtime familiar grocery store on the corner of South College Street and East University Drive will soon close to transform. After which, Aldi will open in Auburn in what was once Winn Dixie.
About the new Aldi
According to recent reports, Aldi will open in Auburn after renovations set to start mid-month are complete. When the German-based supermarket opens, it will be the first one in Auburn. Reports stated that 400 Winn Dixie and Harvey’s stores were purchased by Aldi from Southeastern Grocers in 2023. While some stores will continue to operate as Winn Dixie or Harvey’s, others—like the one in Auburn—will switch to Aldi.
This may be the first Aldi to open in Auburn. But the community is familiar with the supermarket thanks to the Opelika Aldi on Frederick Road across from Tiger Town. Soon residents and visitors will have two convenient locations to shop for high-quality goods at low prices!
