Auburn Equestrian wins SEC Championship
On Saturday, March 30, the Auburn Tigers took on the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station, going head-to-head for the title of SEC Champions.
And in her first season, Auburn equestrian team head coach Jessica Braswell led the Tigers to the program’s sixth-straight SEC Championship, taking down their host and No. 1 seed, Texas A&M, 13-6.
Opening the day, Auburn led with a 7-3 score following Flat and Reining. Flat picked up a 5-point sweep, with Reining securing two points. The Jumping Seat team went 8-2, while the Western team finished 5-4-1.
The Horsemanship crew also dominated, going 8-1-1 throughout the two days, in addition to the Fences crew ending the day with a 3-2 record.

News that Auburn equestrian wins sixth-straight SEC Championship wasn’t the only exciting thing to happen at this competition. The Tigers also took home three Most Outstanding Performer honors!
Sophomores Alecia Tordoff and Caroline Fredenburg were both individually awarded in Reining and Horsemanship. And junior Mary-Grace Segars was honored for her win in Flat. Plus, Fredenburg also placed in the SEC All-Championship for her Horsemanship efforts.
Overall, this championship is the team’s seventh in the Southeastern Conference since the league began to sponsor the sport in 2013. SEC Championship years include 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Moving forward, the Auburn equestrian team looks to close the season with another championship as they head to Florida for the 2024 NCEA Championship at the World Equestrian Center as the host team. War Eagle, ladies!
