Excitement is budding at one natural attraction in town! Currently, the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center Environmental Education Building is under construction. Once complete, this new education building will create a harmonious connection between nature and people.
About the new Environmental Education Building
Construction on the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center Environmental Education Building actually began in October 2023. As of now, it should continue through this summer. During this time, a significant section of the main parking lot is closed.
That means parking at the preserve is limited for now. So, in the meantime, if the available lot is full, visitors can park at the neighboring Embrace Church. From there, guests can follow the powerline trail along North College Street to the KPNC.
Check out additional parking information for those with accessibility needs and emergency vehicles and view a map of the area.
More about the education building
The future education building at Kreher will be a community hub, designed to be a place “for rest and relaxation, education and wonder, recreation and leisure, and fellowship and connection.” The building itself will be integrated with the natural landscape.
What’s more, staying true to the preserve’s values, the building itself is being constructed with eco-friendly cross-laminated timber. It will be home to the Woodland Wonders Nature Preschool and feature a spacious multipurpose classroom for the preserve’s various programs.
Connecting the multipurpose classroom and the preschool will be the “Learning Trail” corridor, with a display case in front of the main office. See a rendering of the site and pledge your support to help bring the project to completion.
Location
You will soon find the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center Environmental Education Building at 2222 North College St. in Auburn. The Kreher Preserve is located near the Fisheries Biodiversity Research Lab and ponds.
