It’s crunch time! A brand-new Del Taco in Opelika is hoping to open for business by February at the location currently wrapping up construction off Pepperell Parkway.

If you’re familiar with the brand, Del Taco in Opelika will offer the same tacos, burritos and burgers that you’d expect. If you’re not familiar with the brand, you read that right. It’s an American-style taco shop that also offers items like burgers, fries and shakes.
What’s more, the fresh ingredients are shredded, chopped, sliced, grilled and made-from-scratch in the restaurant. And the menu is priced at an “unbeatable value.” Del Taco serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and “everything in between.”
This will actually be the third location for the area, including a location in Phenix City and neighboring Columbus, Georgia. The upcoming Opelika location should be open in time for new and familiar customers alike to enjoy specials celebrating the chain’s 60th anniversary, like snack tacos for 60 cents.

Founded in 1964, the first Del Taco opened across the country in Yermo, California. At that time, the menu featured tacos for 19 cents, tostados, fries and cheeseburgers for 24 cents. The fast-food restaurant quickly grew, and the menu expanded.
Fast-forward 60 years, and there are now more than 590 locations throughout the United States, including both company-owned and franchised locations.
