Just steps away from Auburn University, a new hotel is coming to the heart of Auburn! AC Hotels by Marriott in Downtown Auburn has been given its latest stamp of approval regarding design plans.
About AC Hotels by Marriott in Downtown Auburn
Last month, the Downtown Design Review Committee gave the latest set of designs planned for the AC Hotels by Marriott their consent. These plans lay out the blueprint for a six-story building that will rise roughly 75 feet high and feature 129 rooms, a top-floor restaurant, a lounge and much more.
Beginning in May 2022, multiple versions of these plans have been presented to the Downtown Design Review Committee. But the latest version was approved based on its ability to try and establish a “sense of motion and relief” by adding a bronze metallic accent color, thoughtfully-placed vertical lights, an awning above the sixth-floor windows and periodic horizontal elements.
The AC Hotels by Marriott in Downtown Auburn will be located next to the AuburnBank headquarters on North Gay Street.
More about the project
At the latest design approval meeting, the committee expressed great approval for how the building’s design has transformed since the first presentation.
Committee member David Hinson even told reporters that “it’s very much improved from before. It has come a long, long way from where we were when we first saw it.”
With this approval, RAM Hotels, the developer, will continue with the development review process. And once that is done, the project will move forward. Mark Robbins of RAM Hotels predicted that the construction process could begin in two to three months after the first of the year and take 18 to 24 months to complete.
Summary
Soon enough, AC Hotels by Marriott in Downtown Auburn will allow for more Auburn fans and visitors from all around to have a place to stay in town.
