Boykin Donahue Campus project

Big things are coming to “The Loveliest Village on the Plains” thanks to the Boykin Donahue Campus project.

About the Boykin Donahue Campus Project

During a recent Auburn City Council mid-year budget workshop, detailed plans were shared about the Boykin Donahue Campus project. The project will consist of phases, with construction of the first phase expected in 2024.

The project, previously referred to as The Boykin-Donahue Cultural Center, would be constructed behind the existing Boykin Community Center. It includes several exciting aspects, including a top priority—a splash pad! According to reports, requests for a citywide splash pad have been ongoing for many local residents. The future splash pad will be designed with all age groups in mind. There will be features geared toward smaller children, older children and children with special needs.

The splash pad will be located next to another major part of the Boykin Donahue Campus project, a new branch of the Auburn Public Library!

The Boykin Branch will be located in a brand-new 21,000-square-foot building. This branch will include plenty of room for meetings, which is limited at the Thach location. But the splash pad and the second library branch are just the beginning.

More about the project

Also included in phase one of the Boykin Donahue Campus project is the relocation of the recycling drop-off center. The new site will feature new bins, two accessible bins and a much larger “glass bunker.”

Wrapping up phase one is a new cultural center and campus walking trails. The 2,200-square-foot cultural resource center will be designed to be a replica of a Rosenwald School. It will include classrooms, restrooms and a possible gallery.

The center will be constructed next to the new library branch, close to Donahue Drive.
