Auburn High School ranks among Alabama’s best

It’s the time of year once again. The U.S. News rankings for the best public high schools across the country are out, and Auburn High School ranks among Alabama’s best of the best!

About Auburn High School’s ranking

Auburn High School ranks among Alabama’s best public high schools, rounding out the list of the top 10 schools in the state, in fact. Out of the nearly 25,000 public high schools in the U.S. that are ranked, Auburn High School ranks within the top 5 percent of schools nationally at number 1,049.

In Alabama, there were about 386 high schools reviewed in 140 districts across the state. In terms of the rankings, schools are evaluated based on state-required test performances, graduation rates and how well students are prepared for college.

More about the rankings

If you are wondering how Auburn High School ranks among Alabama’s best, along with the other top-ranking schools, it’s a matter of metrics. For instance, deciding factors include data collected on things like college readiness, access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses, state assessments, unserved student performance, the graduation rate and more.

Auburn High School has about a 46 percent participation rate in AP courses, with at least 34 percent of those participants passing at least one AP exam, for example. The majority of students also do better than average when it comes to proficiency in math, science and reading.
