Melt sandwich shop in Auburn

This summer heat may have you feeling like you’re melting, but sometime next year, the word “melt” will take on a whole new meaning around town. Think more toasted, melted goodness since that’s what you’ll find at Melt sandwich shop in Auburn when it opens in early 2024.

About Melt in Auburn

Construction is expected to start this month on the high-end retail and office development that will be home to Melt sandwich shop in Auburn. To clarify, the future Birmingham-based restaurant will be located in The Village at Samford Terrace on East Samford Avenue.

The Auburn storefront will be the fourth location for Melt, which started as a food truck in Birmingham in 2011. By 2014, Melt opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Birmingham. Another location was then opened in Hoover, followed by a third in Huntsville.

As for the future Auburn location, the 2,800-square-foot space will feature a full bar, a covered patio, board games and cornhole set up on the front lawn.

The menu

Melt specializes in what they call “classic food with a modern twist.” In a nutshell, guests will find toasted sandwiches, hamburgers, salads, sides, sweets and appetizers. While there may be a few menu variations depending on the location, staples include items like a classic grilled cheese, a Buffalo chicken sandwich and a signature cheeseburger.

Wondering what Melt’s twist is on the classic grilled cheese? A triple cheese combo! Melt’s “Classic Grilled Cheese” includes cheddar, Monterey Jack and American cheeses on Texas toast with your choice of a side. Sides range from kettle chips to beer-battered fries to upgrades like mac-and-cheese.
