You may have noticed a few changes happening just off Ogletree Road near Auburn Fire Division Station No. 3. Land is being cleared to make room for the new Lake Wilmore Community Center in Auburn.
About Lake Wilmore Community Center
Construction is officially underway for Lake Wilmore Community Center in Auburn, which will be a brand-new recreation center.
The new rec center will feature several amenities, including two full-sized basketball courts. There will also be fitness rooms, an indoor walking track, activity rooms, a zero-entry pool and lap pool. What’s more, the pool will be heated, and it will have a cover feature for year-round use!
Additional multi-use areas and rooms are also part of the future recreation center, as well as office spaces and locker rooms.
According to reports, about 35 acres out of 182 acres will be developed in the first phase of construction. Phase one of construction is expected wrap up mid-July 2024.
Then it’s on to phase two! That includes creating four new multi-purpose athletic fields. The fields will have synthetic turf, making them available for year-round use as well.

Lake Wilmore Community Center in Auburn will be part of an area currently serving as a passive city park, Lake Wilmore Trail. Located at 737 Ogletree Road, the park’s trail will be closed during construction. But, it will re-open when the project is finished.
