Put your paws up for good news! By this spring, the Lee County Humane Society expansion should be complete, making room for more large dogs. Let’s take a look at what’s to come!
About the Lee County Humane Society expansion
For starters, the Lee County Humane Society expansion would not be possible without the generous donation and support from Walter and Virginia Woltosz. The Woltosz family have been active volunteers since 2014 and are always there when an animal is in need.
Spearheaded by volunteer Tom Gober, and with the help of the LCHS’s board members, a contract with J.A. Lett Construction has been signed. Construction is set to begin soon, and the expected completion date is set for early April of this year.
The much-needed expansion focuses on adding more shelter spaces for large dogs. As our local population continues to grow, so do our local pet populations. Within the past few years, the Lee County Humane Society has been at nearly full capacity.
With the help of this expansion, there will be more room, and hopefully, more chances for positive outcomes. This project will consist of enclosing the current carport to add space for more kennels to house a minimum of 10 large dogs and possibly smaller dogs and puppies.
