Earlier this month, Niche.com released the rankings for the 2023 Best School Districts in Alabama. Based on a recent study by Niche, Auburn has the third-best school district in Alabama for 2023.
Auburn City Schools ranks third!
Coming in just after number one ranked Madison City Schools and number two ranked Homewood City Schools is Auburn!
In fact, Auburn has the third-best school district in Alabama for 2023 compared to 138 school systems across the state. Auburn City Schools was given an overall Niche grade of A+.
There are currently 13 schools in Auburn’s school district, including nine elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. Together, the schools serve 8,971 students in Pre-K through 12th grade.
In addition to these 13 schools, another elementary school is currently under construction on Farmville Road.
While Auburn has the third-best school district in Alabama for 2023, that is not the only high ranking.

Auburn City Schools also ranked third on the Best School Districts for Athletes in Alabama rankings. When it comes to the best teachers in the state, Auburn City Schools came in fourth out of 138 districts.
According to the Niche.com study, when it comes to the best school districts nationwide, Auburn City Schools is 136th out of 10,751 districts.
Nearby Opelika City Schools also ranked in the top 25. Out of 138 districts across the state, Opelika City Schools ranked 24th with an overall Niche grade of A-.
