According to recent reports, the city has officially approved plans for the new development on Pepperrell Parkway in Opelika after much thought and consideration.
The development, known as “The Ballfields,” will feature a mix of residential, retail and restaurant spaces. More specifically, the new development on Pepperell Parkway in Opelika will include 200 apartments, 30 townhomes plus shopping and dining storefronts.
City planners say this development could not come at a better time. Opelika has seen a steady increase in its population throughout the last 10 years. In fact, it has grown by 6,000 residents!
Soon, residents and visitors alike will benefit from more living, dining and shopping options. In fact, construction on the site is expected to be complete within a year.
Currently, the site is being cleared and is in the early stages of development. Residents can easily watch and track the progress thanks to its prime location.
Location
The Ballfields is specifically located on the southwest corner of Pepperell Parkway and North 30th Street. The large lot is directly across from Gateway Commons and the Opelika Walmart Shopping Center. Gateway Commons includes retails stores such as City Gear, GameStop and H&R Block—just to name a few.
The residential area of the new development will be built behind the commercial space with access from North 30th Street, Cunningham Drive and Pepperell Parkway.
