According to a recent article by the Opelika-Auburn News, the storefront is expected to open in early March. Located in what was formerly Stein Mart, B. Turner’s at the Auburn Mall will offer shoppers a complete family shopping experience.
Products include clothing, shoes, accessories and more for men, women and children. B. Turner’s buyers travel around the country to find the brands people want at prices they can afford. To clarify, “buyers” means the B. Turner’s team members who buy the merchandise that is then sold in the stores to customers.

To summarize, what started as a discount sock shop in Griffin, GA, is now an all-inclusive, multi-product, one-stop department store. Husband and wife team Robert and Gladys Futral opened The Sock Shoppe in 1936 in a small building across from the Spalding Knitting Mills.
Robert worked at the mill and thought of a good way to use all the socks that were being thrown out due to small imperfections. The duo sold the socks on Saturday mornings to customers at very discounted prices.
At lunch, it became a mother-daughter duo. Barbara Turner and her mom, Gladys, would drive to Atlanta to find quality items at low prices. Then, the store opened at night and sold those goods to happy shoppers!
Four generations later, and the main goal remains the same. Bring quality products at affordable prices to the people.
