The University, Downtown Auburn, the Jule-Collins Smith Art Museum—we all have things that we love about our town. How cool would it be if you could point out your designs and your ideas in our amazing city? Well, students now have a chance to submit their creations to the city. So get planning with your ideas on redesigning Auburn’s entryways.
What is the subject of the competition?
We’ve all driven past the signs welcoming folks into Auburn. Soon, these familiar sites could bear your original work! The competition is asking for plans redesigning Auburn’s entryways with signs of your very own.
Are there any design requirements?
There aren’t a ton of rules for this cool project, but students should read up on the few requirements, such as a lack of fountains or water-based creations, before they get to work. However, the judges are looking forward to creative and interesting designs, as well as classic looks, and anything else applicants can create. You can even incorporate vegetation into the mix too.
Who can send in submissions?
The City of Auburn is requesting that only Auburn University students send in submissions. There is no restriction on majors. You are also allowed to send in designs that you made for a class project or portfolio, provided that they are Auburn “welcome” signs.
When is the deadline?
The deadline for submissions falls on May 22. Make sure that you send in your redesigns by then on the City of Auburn site—and good luck! The city plans to announce the winning design proposal on or by June 19, 2020.
Summary
Our wonderful residents are what make our town the “Loveliest Village on the Plains.” Each and every person brings something great to our town, making our community stronger and closer together. And if you plan to send in submissions, you can potentially add redesigning Auburn’s entryways into the list of terrific things that you have brought to our town. We can’t wait to see who the winner is—and what the final entryways look like!
