Home sweet home seems to be on everyone’s minds right now. After all, that’s where we’re spending, well, all of our days. Still, there are some people who don’t have the luxury of a safe, affordable place to live. Auburn University’s Rural Studio, along with housing financier Fannie Mae, both seek to help with that. Fortunately, they’ve just received some great news!
What is Auburn University’s Rural Studio?
Auburn University is a fantastic place for folks to get their degrees. For those seeking education in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, they can gain experience and help the community by working with Auburn University’s Rural Studio. This organization helps plan and build low-cost homes in rural areas, giving locals affordable, quality places to live. It also works closely with Hale County architects and lender Fannie Mae, creating a great team.
Great News for Auburn University’s Rural Studio
Times sure have been unusual lately. That means we’re overdue for some happy news—and here it is! Fannie Mae has not only given a research agreement a much-deserved extension, but the company is also giving big to Auburn University’s Rural Studio. They’ve earmarked another generous donation, to the tune of $450,000! That money will make an enormous difference in the lives of those living in our community. Thank you!
How will the funding help?
The funding will help the hard work and careful planning of Rural Studio come to fruition! Fannie Mae has helped fund their research and prototypes—and now the company is officially giving them money and a contract to start building in the future.
The grant will also cover data-gathering and analysis—specifically over energy usage, efficiency, and other relevant data in the newly-built homes. This will help Rural Studio build even better homes in the future! Finally, it will also allow Rural Studio to assist homebuilders already creating housing options in the area.
Summary
Auburn University’s Rural Studio creates homes for members of our community, helping those in need find a wonderful place to live. They also remind us the importance of giving back to our town! If you have the chance to do even a small good deed, you can make our amazing city even better.
