In fact, USA Today announced that Auburn is ranked among America’s most affordable cities. Wondering what that means for our town? We’ll explain it all!
Our Ranking
Only 50 towns in the whole country made USA Today’s list of America’s most affordable cities. We made the top 20! Auburn sits proudly at number 19.
The Alabama cities of Daphne-Fairhope are also on the list at number six, though their cost of living is higher than Auburn’s. One other Alabama city made the list: Huntsville is ranked at number 42!
How Were the Rankings Determined?
Since Auburn is ranked among America’s most affordable cities, we bet you’re curious about just how the rankings were determined. USA Today took in mind the following factors when making their list:
- Cost of living, as compared to the national average;
- Median household income;
- Population number;
- Median home value; and
- Population growth from 2010 to 2018.
USA Today then contrasted the numbers, which were gathered from 2010 to 2018 statistics, and found the results for their list. Of course, it’s no surprise for Auburn residents that we scored so highly!
