What makes Northwoods a smart neighborhood?
Electricity—we need it, but boy is it expensive. At Northwoods, the neighborhood aims to make electricity more affordable and more efficient as the first energy-efficient smart neighborhood in the region. Even the outlets and appliances are more efficient than their competitors. That sounds like a win! Well, there’s even more to love about Auburn’s first smart neighborhood.
Northwoods also comes equipped with helpful smart systems. They allow you to run your home through your smartphone or tablet. You can even use voice control. Then, you can get your household tasks done—no matter where you are.
The homes are projected to be about 35 percent more efficient than homes built in 2010, with features like spray foam insulation, low-E windows and LED light bulbs. Each home will feature Google Home smart speakers for voice control of the home, Nest Learning Thermostats and Energy Star appliances, among other features.
How can I get a smart home?
Currently, Northwoods aims to create a total of 51 smart homes. By this time next year, builders anticipate that they’ll be ready for residents. Until then, you can visit Northwoods for a demonstration on Wednesdays and Sundays at 5 p.m.! Northwoods is located off of North Donahue Drive.
