Summer is the season for music festivals. Though some are a bit too far too be feasible, there are also exciting nearby options. Luckily for locals, we even have a fantastic festival in town: the Opelika Songwriter’s Festival 2019 happening this weekend! Looks like it’s time to add it to your weekend plans!
What is the Opelika Songwriter’s Festival 2019?
The Opelika Songwriter’s Festival 2019 is a completely new addition to the local scene. Kicking off its first year during Memorial Day Weekend, it’s located all throughout downtown Opelika. This means that attendees can explore freely, picking out performances to enjoy. Intending to showcase performers from all over the U.S. and Canada, Rob and Jen Slocumb of Martha’s Trouble founded this incredible event.
Excited already? Here are some of the forty different performers that you’ll get to hear:
- Kim Richey;
- Kipyn Martin;
- Korby Lenker;
- Harpeth Rising;
- Dan Navarro;
- Kate Campbell;
- Shawn Mullins;
- Martha’s Trouble and
- Many, many more!
Plus, the festival also offers a bit philanthropic fun, too. Profits will benefit The Arts Association of East Alabama, making it easier for performers and artists to show their creative sides.
