During the summer, the sun spends more time in the sky and the temperature on your thermometer keeps rising. Looking for a way to beat the heat? Well, there’s no better way to splash into summer than taking a swim! Luckily, you have several local options. Here’s what you need to know for this season about Auburn and Opelika public pools.
Samford Pool
- Features: If you’re looking for a place to go swimming, Samford Pool is one of the great options among the local Auburn and Opelika public pools. Whether you want to enjoy time on the water or you want to learn to swim or dive, Samford Pool offers multiple options. Plus, you can even learn how to scuba dive or take a water aerobics class. Finally, attendees who buy a SplashPass can attend fun movies on the water and Friday Night Splashes, complete with a cookout.
- Location: 328 E. Samford Ave., Auburn
- Pricing: $2 per person, with children one and under attending for free.
- Hours: Starting on May 28, the pool will be open for recreational swimming Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; lap swimming Monday through Thursday 6-7 a.m.; recreational swimming Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; lap swimming Friday and Saturday 6 to 9 a.m.; recreational swimming Sunday from 1-6 p.m; and lap swimming Sunday noon to 1 p.m.

Opelika SportsPlex and Aquatic Center
- Features: Want to soak in the hot tub? Rather swim laps? The Aquatic Center at the Opelika Sportsplex offers something for everyone. The SportsPlex also includes a disc course, weight room, and indoor track too.
- Location: 1001 Andrews Rd., Opelika
- Pricing: $4 per person
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 1-8 p.m. (These hours reflect free public swimming. Members have more flexibility in their swimming times.)

Splash Park
- Features: The Opelika SportsPlex and Aquatic Center also features a Splash Park. Right next to the park and playground, this Splash Park opens up to the outdoors. There, children can play under the water mushrooms and try out water guns.

- Pricing: $4 per person
- Hours: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 -4:45 p.m.
