spots to spring clean outdoors

Most of us don’t love cleaning. Still, the chore is necessary for a happy, comfortable home—inside and out. It’s time to take on these spots to spring clean outdoors. Besides, we all know that nothing is better than relaxing in a spotless front or backyard.

  • Windows. Some days, you may glance out your window to keep an eye on your garden, the weather, or your children playing in the backyard. If you’re dealing with dirty windowpanes, however, it’s harder to see. Make sure you clean the outside—and inside—of your windows. For higher windows, consider hiring a cleaning service that can safely get the job done.
  • Sheds. Ever gone a while without cleaning your shed? Then you know just how gross it can get. Clean it out thoroughly, getting rid of old or damaged contents. After that, deal with the outside, hosing it down or pressure-washing it, depending on what is proper treatment for its material.
  • Grills. Cooking with a clean grill is important. Otherwise, you and the people you’re serving could get extremely sick. Not only should you clean your grill before each use, but you should also include it as one of the spots to spring clean outdoors. Plus, this means you can celebrate the end of your cleaning with a delicious burger or hot dog!
  • Gardens. Spring cleaning can also mean upkeep and planting. Pull away the weeds and plant seeds, creating a beautiful garden to enjoy for months.
  • Swing sets. You may not know how messy your swing set looks, but your child or children do. This time of year, your swing set is most likely covered in dirt or pollen. Clean it completely so that your children have a safe place to play.
  • Decks. Often, decks are a great place to relax. However, if they’re covered in spiderwebs, grime, and pollen, they seem much less welcoming. Clean the deck itself—you may need a pressure washer for the task—as well as all the furniture that sits on it.
  • Furniture. Benches, tables, and chairs—after a long winter, they need your attention. Wipe down glass, clean cushions, and properly treat the surfaces of your furniture. Then, you can relax outdoors.

Whether you’re selling or buying, having a clean home is a necessity. To prepare your house for the market—or to break in your new home for a housewarming party—don’t forget these spots to spring clean outdoors.
