For those looking to work their bodies to the extreme in competitive environments, Auburn and Opelika will offer three different health and athlete-oriented events this weekend, including the more laid-back I RUN OPELIKA Health Expo, XTERRA Auburn, and XTERRA Auburn Trail Run. Enjoy fitness at its best with these three active events in Auburn and Opelika!
I RUN OPELIKA Health Expo & Run/Walk, Aug. 18
When: Saturday, August 18 starting 6:30 a.m.
Where: Courthouse Square, 125 S. 9th St., Opelika
Join with the Opelika community for the benefit of your health and others! This health awareness event includes a health expo offering health screenings, group exercises, education, and more for all age brackets. Attendees may also participate in the 5K and 1-mile run/walk, which includes a tour through the beautiful Opelika Historic Downtown area.
You can pick up yours, your spouse’s, and your child’s race bibs, swag bag, and T-shirt on August 17 from noon to 5 p.m.; however, if you plan to pick up a friend’s race packet, the I RUN OPELIKA planners require a signed note to avoid race-day confusion. They will also offer race-day package pickup starting at 6 a.m.
Proceeds from the I RUN OPELIKA Health Expo and Run/Walk will benefit YES, I Run Opelika, a youth empowerment non-profit organization of the East Alabama Medical Center.

The swim competition will occur within the park’s 26-acre swimming lake while the bike and run will indulge athletes in the park’s 25-miles of mountain bike trails.
The USA Triathlon sanctions all XTERRA events, meaning XTERRA Auburn organizes its events in accordance to safe and fair practices. This sanction also means that participants must purchase a USAT license. You can purchase a one-day license when you register for XTERRA Auburn.
