Bee Auburn

As plenty of scientific studies show, the actions of bees are crucial for the survival of plant—and consequently animal—life on Earth! Bees help keep plant species alive and they do an interesting bonus service with their cross-pollination, creating new and evolving varieties of plants. From June 18-22, Auburn will be doing its part to celebrate the useful work that bees do for our planet. There, Auburn University’s Department of Agriculture will host a series of un-bee-lievable events in what they’re calling Bee Auburn: A Celebration of Pollinators. With five days of activities to choose from, there are plenty of fun things to do for everyone!

Monday, June 18: Day One, Dinner with Pollinators

For the first of the festivities, head on over to where the magic starts: the Auburn University Community Garden. After all, what better place to celebrate bees than in their lush natural habitat? While bees buzz about and collect their nectar, you can expect a delicious dinner of your own! It’s probably a lot easier than making honey, too.

Tuesday, June 19: Day Two, Coffee, Tea, and Teacups

Described as a “sip ‘n paint event,” this exciting offering will allow you to get your creative juices flowing. Bee fans will meet in a studio to create something new and beautiful. Just make sure that you sign up in advance and pay the $35 fee in order to cover the costs of the event. It’ll be well worth it when you bring home your gorgeous piece of work!

Wednesday, June 20: Day Three, Bee-A-Biologist Educator’s Event

This is limited to those who received an invitation. Still, why not spend the day outside, looking at the beautiful summer flowers and enjoying the fresh air, keeping up with the spirit of the Celebration of Pollinators? You’ll be sure to spot some bees there, too!

Thursday, June 21: Day Four, Scientific Arts

This Bee Auburn event takes place at the fantastic Jule Collins Art Museum, which all Auburn residents ought to check out regardless. There, you will learn more about bees, all the while enjoying the amazing art that the museum houses.

Friday, June 22: Day Five

On the last day of the celebration, bee fans will have the chance to enjoy a big end to a great week! The Donald E. Davis Arboretum, one of the best spots to check out bees, will host the event. It promises to include something for everyone: food, great live music, activities for children and adults, and vendors selling all the bee-related goods you could ever want. This event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. that Friday evening, so make sure to check out Bee Auburn’s finale to its pollinator extravaganza!

Via Bee Auburn, Auburn is doing its part to raise awareness for the pollinators that keep our planet full of life. Even better, it looks like they’re trying to make sure that everyone involved with be able to combine their passion for supporting bees while enjoying a ton of fun activities.
