May Concert Series, May 3-31

  • What: Each Thursday evening in May, head to Town Creek Park to enjoy live music from local and regional performers. All concerts are free to the public.

10th Annual Kentucky Derby Auction & Dinner, May 5

  • What: Wear fancy hats, drink mint juleps and eat cuisine from Auburn and Opelika’s nicest restaurants while watching the Kentucky Derby for a good cause—to benefit Storybook Farm. Listen to guest speakers Kim and Tim Hudson, and enjoy a live auction and giveaways.

Garden in the Park, May 5

  • What: This annual arts and crafts festival will feature vendors, children’s activities, live entertainment and more. This event is free, and food donations will be collected for the East Alabama Food Bank.

  • When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

2018 Lutzie 43 Golf Invitational, May 10

  • What: This event helps raise money to support the mission and programs of the Lutzie 43 Foundation, which was established in loving memory of former Auburn University football player Philip Lutzenkirchen.

Boudin & Beignets, May 11

  • What: Cajun and creole-inspired dishes prepared by local chefs are the main event at this benefit for the College of Agriculture and the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at Auburn University. In addition, indulge in beverages from area wineries, breweries and distilleries while being entertained by live music.

Bark in the Park, May 12

  • What: Bring your pups to play and strut their stuff at Auburn’s celebration of responsible dog ownership. Shop dog-related vendors, participate in contests, meet adoptable animals and more.

44th Annual Old Car Show, May 19

  • What: Sponsored by the East Alabama Old Car Club, this event will feature vehicles on display, as well as trophies awarded across a variety of categories.

Bi-Annual Garden Tour Presented by the Lee County Master Gardeners, May 19-20

  • What: Lee County Master Gardeners will showcase successful local gardens while offering ideas and inspiration to tour attendees. This tour also serves as a fund raiser to support Master Gardener programs.
  • Where: Various locations in Auburn and Opelika

26th Annual Fishing Rodeo, May 19

  • What: Bring your children to fish the lake at Auburn Technology Park South for the chance to win prizes, including awards for the most fish caught overall the biggest fish caught in each age category. The first 150 children will receive a free rod and reel. The cost is $5 per child.
  • Where: Auburn Technology Park South, Enterprise Drive, Auburn
  • When: 7 to 11 a.m.

Be the Light 5K and One-Mile Fun Run, May 19

  • What: Recognize Mental Health Awareness Month with this 5K and one-mile fun run to raise money for East Alabama Mental Health. Registration for the 5K is $20 before May 17. Registration for the one-mile fun run is $10 before May 17.
