After getting over the hump of the New Year, February serves as a time for us to keep thinking about setting annual goals while starting to put them in action. Love gets a shout out for Valentine’s Day mid-month, which leads us to focus on the special people in our lives. Barks & Brews, Feb. 3
- What: Sample Opelika-brewed beer and socialize with humans and adoptable dogs alike at Red Clay Brewing Company. The Lee County Humane Society will be on site for its adoption event.

Brookshire Memorial 5K and Fun Run, Feb. 3
- What: The Auburn Firefighters Association will host this inaugural memorial 5K and fun run to honor Capt. Roger Brookshire, who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 23, 1977. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National Fallen Firefights Foundation in his memory.

Hudson Family Foundation Annual Super Bowl Party, Feb. 4
- What: This annual viewing party and benefit will include food catered by Iron Chef Winner David Bancroft, entertainment, live and silent auctions and more. The Hudson Family Foundation works to make a positive impact in the lives of children in need of physical, emotional or financial assistance.

MOPS Valentine’s Expo, Feb. 6
- What: Auburn/Opelika Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)s will host local vendors selling great gifts for Valentine’s Day. Each table will also have candy and Valentine’s treats for children, so the family is welcome to attend. The event will also include a raffle and baked goods for sale.

- When: 3 to 7 p.m.
Funny but Clean Comedy with Henry Cho, Feb. 9
- What: Comedian Henry Cho has been featured on NBC’s “The Tonight Show”, CBS’s “The Late, Late Show” and on Comedy Central for his own segment, “What’s That Clickin’ Noise?” Opening comedians include Rahn Hortman and Clayburn Cox.
- Where: Bottling Plant Event Center, 614 N. Railroad Ave., Opelika
- When: 6 p.m. doors open, 7 p.m. show starts

Mardi Gras Parade, Feb. 10
- What: Krewe de Tigris presents the second annual Mardi Gras Parade in downtown Auburn, an entertainment district event! With the tiger as its symbol, Krewe de Tigris represents power, passion and a fierce spirit.

- When: 5 p.m.
Fire on the Plains, Feb. 10
- What: This interactive educational program will teach participants how fire shapes the natural landscape of the forest. The event will include a prescribed fire demonstration, the Auburn Fire Department, Smokey the Bear, Firetruck Bar-B-Q and more. This program is free and open to the public.
- Where: Kreher Preserve and Nature Center, 2222 N. College St., Auburn

East Alabama Arts: THE HOT SARDINES, Feb. 12
- What: This New York-based jazz ensemble takes music first made famous decades ago and brings it new life through its horn arrangements, piano melodies and vocals. The Hot Sardines have been featured at the Newport Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival and they have sold out venues across more than 150 tour dates from Chicago to London.

2018 Zumbathon, Feb. 24
- What: Dance your calories away for 120 minutes of Zumba—a Latin-based exercise program that combines dancing with aerobic workout. This year’s event will include a 1980s costume contest starting at 8 a.m. before the Zumbathon starts! This event is free and open to the public and is being held in conjunction with Scale Back AL—Lee County.
