The Auburn-Opelika area has seen a more than chilly start to 2018—with lows in the teens hitting thermometers across the Plains! When it’s that cold outside, many of us tend to want to stay bundled up with our blankets and Netflix accounts. With its strong agritourism presence, nature facilities and outdoor recreation spots, Auburn-Opelika is the ideal place to spend the day outside—but not with the winter weather we’ve been experiencing as of late. Don’t worry—if you’re getting cabin fever, there are still plenty of things to do in Auburn and Opelika when it’s too cold outside! Here are a few ideas.

  • Go shopping. Shop indoors in Auburn and Opelika when it’s too cold outside at the Auburn Mall, which offers a range of big-name stores and smaller shops to choose from.   • Play laser tag. Opelika’s CyberZone is a family fun center featuring a 6,200 square-foot laser tag arena, arcade, bounce zone and more. Come alone, bring a group, or plan an entire party! Enjoy half-price arcade games every Wednesday.
  • Jump around. Let the kids exert some energy at Surge Trampoline Park in Opelika! The facility offers more than 45,000 square feet of trampoline fun perfect for a weekend outing, birthday party or even workouts.
  • Attend an (indoor) sporting event. One of the benefits of living in the Auburn-Opelika area is having Auburn University as our neighbor.
