Come Home to the Corner, Sept. 1, 15, 29

  • What: Celebrate football season by participating in “Come Home to the Corner,” events happening in 2017. Each event invites you to enjoy live music, shopping and dining—with some stores staying open extended hours. As an entertainment district event, patrons are allowed to carry drinks out of establishments as they walk, shop and socialize.
  • Where: Downtown Auburn
  • When: 4 to 10 p.m.

On the Town: Downtown Opelika’s Night Out, Sept. 1

  • What: This family-friendly night out in Opelika will feature an AU Pep Rally starting at 6:30 p.m., shops staying open until 9 p.m., games, live music, ice cream and more. Patrons are encouraged to shop, dine and hang out in Downtown Opelika!
  • Where: Downtown Opelika
  • When: 6 p.m.

LCMGA Landscape Design, Sept. 6

  • What: The Lee County Master Gardeners of Alabama will host guest speaker Charlene LeBleu, a professor and interim head in the School of Architecture at Auburn University. LeBleu’s focus is on green building and water quality issues with an emphasis on low impact development design.
  • Where: The Harris Center, 425 Perry Street, Auburn
  • When: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Bartender of the Year Competition—Auburn Regional, Sept. 12

  • What: Hosted by the Alabama Restaurant & Hospitality Association, this annual competition is open to all professional bartenders in the area. Regional winners will have the opportunity to compete at the Stars of the Industry Awards Dinner in Birmingham on Oct. 16 against other regional winners. Regional winners will be competing for a $1,500 grand prize and title of “Bartender of the Year.”
  • Where: The Hotel at Auburn University & Dixon Conference Center, 241 S. College St., Auburn
  • When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

9th Annual Swing for Diabetes Golf Tournament, Sept. 14 

  • What: Sponsored by the East Alabama Medical Center Foundation, this golf tournament seeks to raise money for the EAMC Foundation’s Diabetes and Nutrition Center Fund. Participants can contribute via corporate sponsorships, registering to play in the tournament and donations.
  • Where: Auburn University Club, 1650 Yarbrough Farms Boulevard, Auburn
  • When: 11 a.m.

East Alabama Arts: BALLET HISPANICO, Sept. 19

  • What: The Arts Association of East Alabama will present BALLET HISPANICO, an exploration and celebration of Latino cultures through dance. The dance group seeks to express the Latino voice through dance through contemporary, relevant new works.
  • Where: Opelika Center for the Performing Arts, 1700 Lafayette Parkway, Opelika,
  • When: 7:30 p.m.

Auburn-Opelika Women’s Expo, Sept. 21

  • What: Presented by the Opelika-Auburn News, the annual Women’s Expo invites women to enjoy relevant vendor booths, enter to win door prizes and more. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit victims of domestic violence.
  • Where: The Bottling Plant Event Center, 614 N. Railroad Ave., Opelika
  • When: 5 to 8 p.m.

Old 280 Boogie, Sept. 23

  • What: This biannual, BYOB music festival/yard party draws fans to Waverly for a day spent relaxing on blankets and lounge chairs while listening to local and regional bands. Vendors will also be on site selling art and crafts.
  • Where: Standard Deluxe, 1015 Mayberry, Waverly
  • When: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Fall Family Fun Day at Kreher Preserve & Nature Center, Sept. 23

  • What: Celebrate fall at the preserve with music, nature hikes, animal encounters, face painting, crafts—and help the KPNC name its new alligators! Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and a professional photographer will be on site for family portraits. No registration is required, and admission costs is $1 for all ages.
  • Where: Kreher Preserve & Nature Center, 2222 N. College St., Auburn
  • When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Puppy Palooza, Sept. 23

  • What: Bring your canine crew to Kiesel Park for the Lee County Humane Society’s annual fundraiser to raise money for both the shelter and Auburn-Opelika’s homeless animals. The event’s tagline is “peace, love and puppies!”
  • Where: Kiesel Park, 520 Chadwick Lane, Auburn
  • When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
