The Auburn Tigers will be on the road this weekend as they take on Missouri on Saturday, but don’t fret over having nothing to do. As tailgates on the Plains take a break this weekend, our thriving community still offers plenty of productive and entertaining activities to make your Saturday a great one. Check out these seven things to do in Auburn this Saturday, September 23!
- Old 280 Boogie: This multi-cultural music and arts festival in Waverly, Alabama will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with music starting at noon. The event will feature live bands, throughout the day, as well as food and artist vendors. BYOB, bring a blanket and friends for a day of live music in the beautiful Alabama countryside!
- Friends of the Auburn Public Library Book Sale: Stock up for your fall and winter reading at the Friends of the Auburn Public Library Book Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dean Road Recreation Center. Thousands of gently-used books will be on sale, with hardbacks on sale for $2 and paperbacks on sale for $1. Proceeds benefit the Auburn Public Library and its programs.
- A.B. 5K, Fun Run, & Nutrition and Wellness Fair: Run for the sake of health and wellness starting at the Ag Heritage Park on Donahue Drive at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The 5K will take runners on a route through Auburn University’s campus, and it will be followed by a one-mile fun run, doggie dash, nutrition and wellness fair and farmer’s market.
- Book It for Books 5K: An effort of the Auburn Opelika Running and Track Association (AORTA), this 5K at Auburn’s Town Creek Park will raise money for student book clubs at Drake Middle School. Registration starts at 7 a.m., with a fun run at 8 a.m. and 5K at 8:30 a.m.
- Puppy Palooza: Support the Lee County Humane Society at this annual fundraiser to benefit both the shelter and homeless pets in Auburn and Opelika. This doggie-themed festival will be at Kiesel Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature “peace, love and puppies.”
- Fall Family Fun Day at Kreher Preserve: The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center off North College Street in Auburn invites families for a day of music, nature hikes, arts and crafts and animal encounters—including the center’s new alligators. A professional photographer will also be on hand for family portraits. This event will cost $1 for all ages and will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Johnny Ray Century Bicycle Tour: This annual bicycle tour sponsored by the East Alabama Cycling Club will benefit the Davis Phinney Foundation and their support of those with Parkinson’s disease. Routes range from 20 to 105 miles and will take riders through rural roads in Lee, Chambers and Randolph counties. The tour will start with registration at 7 a.m. and will continue to 4 p.m.
