Sure, many of us make it a point to enjoy ice cream year round, but in these last few days of July as National Ice Cream Month, it couldn’t hurt to use it as an excuse to make a stop by your favorite local ice cream shop. If you are looking to indulge in ice cream in Auburn and Opelika, check out these tasty places to get a sweet treat around town.

  • O-Town Ice Cream
    • What: With names like “Chunky Monkey Park,” “Spring Villa Vanilla” and “Rocky Brook Road,” this locally-owned ice cream shop gives a nod to iconic people, places and things throughout Opelika. Enjoy Opelika nostalgia along with your ice cream at O-Town’s location in the Historic District along the railroad tracks.

  • Toomer’s Drugs

  • Bruster’s Real Ice Cream
    • What: A selection of sundaes and splits, blasts, shakes, waffle cones and more will ensure that you leave satisfied. Ice cream is made fresh in-store and includes flavors like Caramel Crackle, Cake Batter, Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Snickerdoodle, Banana Cream Pie and more.
