Barbasol Championship 2017

Ready for one of the most important golfing events of the season in our area? The Barbasol Championship 2017 is returning to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National in Opelika, Alabama! The event is scheduled to kick off July 20 with the gates opening at 6:30 a.m. With the event fast approaching, we’ve compiled some information to help you plan for the championship, whether you’re a spectator, an interested volunteer, or simply a curious individual.

 

The Barbasol Championship is a PGA Tour event first held in 2015 with winner Scott Pierce of the USA, followed by 2016 winner Aaron Baddeley of Australia. The event is the first PGA event in Alabama since the 1990 PGA Championship.

 

Attendee Information

The Barbasol Championship 2017 will be held at 3000 Robert Trent Jones Trail, Opelika, Alabama 36801. Visitors may park at the Auburn Marriott Opelika Hotel & Conference Center at Grand National.

 

Visitors are allowed cellphones so long as the devices are set to silent; cameras are prohibited save for Wednesday only. Alcoholic beverages, coolers, weapons, folding chair carry bags are among the on-sight prohibited items. Furthermore, only specified guide animals will be allowed on the premise.

 

Visitors may go to the 18 Scoring Tent for the autograph of players that have finished their rounds.

 

Due to the fickle nature of weather, the Barbasol Championship 2017 may be suspended should bad weather ensure. Attendees are encouraged to pay attention to weather warning signs displayed on score or message boards throughout the event.

Tickets

A range of ticket options are available for potential attendees:

  • Good Any One Day Ticket | $20.00 | Available for one-time-only tournament admittance for the grounds only, Wednesday–Sunday.
  • Two Pack | $35.00 | Two tickets for tournament admittance for the grounds only, Wednesday–Sunday.
  • Par Five | $80.00 | Five pack tickets for tournament admittance on the grounds only, Wednesday–Sunday.

If you’re active or retired military, have your ID ready for free tournament admission including one guest! Furthermore, children 15 or under with a paying adult are also offered free admission.

 

Volunteer

The Barbasol Championship 2017 needs volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering, check out the registration page or read the volunteer manual for detailed information.

 

During the process, registering volunteers will need to

  • provide their full name, birth date, and contact information;
  • enter committee preference for admissions, merchandise, and parking;
  • select a uniform choice;
  • commit to day-by-day, morning or afternoon availability for the tournament; and
  • pay volunteer fee and uniform expenses if prompted.

 

Registered volunteers will then have access to a customized portal web page that includes all the organization and information a volunteer needs to be prepared for the event!

 

Alabama Power Junior Clinic

The junior clinic is a free event for children to learn about golfing and life advice from career pros. The event is to be held before the Barbasol Championship 2017 at the Robert Trent Jones Grand National on Tuesday, July 18.

Players

The Barbasol Championship 2017 expects professional golfers from around the world, including players from South Africa, Argentina, Australia, Korea, and Columbia! Visit the complete player list to see all current participants.

 

The winner of the tournament will earn a two-year PGA Tour exemption, a PGA Championship trip and a portion of a $3.5 million purse.
