It’s almost that time—time to pick out your best red, white and blue attire and get ready to show your spirit for America as we prepare to celebrate our nation’s independence next week! If you are looking forward to celebrating with the community for this patriotic holiday, check out this list of where to spend Fourth of July in East Alabama to get an idea of what celebrations are happening across Auburn, Opelika and beyond.

  • 65th Annual Freedom Celebration in Opelika, July 3
    • What: Opelika Parks and Recreation presents Opelika’s 65th annual Freedom Celebration featuring inflatables, kids’ activities, music by Route 66, skydivers and one impressive fireworks display at dark. Children are invited to write their names on paper plates and place them near the tennis courts. Later in the evening, The Silver Wings Parachute Team will land on the baseball field, and the child’s plate that the parachuters land on will win a prize. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to relax on the grass during this family-friendly holiday event.
    • Where: Opelika High School, 1700 Lafayette Parkway, Opelika
    • When: 6:30 p.m.

 

  • Rumble on the River at Lake Harding, July 3
    • What: Witness a fireworks show that the Rumble on the River Committee touts as the largest fireworks show ever done on Lake Harding. With parts of the lake located in Alabama and parts in Georgia, Lake Harding is about 42 minutes away from Auburn.
    • Where: Bartlett’s Ferry Dam
    • When: 8:30 p.m.

 

  • Auburn Independence Day Celebration, July 4
    • What: The City of Auburn, Auburn Parks and Recreation and Briggs and Stratton invite the community to Auburn’s Duck Samford Park for food, live music and of course—fireworks. The Lamont Landers Band, playing a mixture of soul, funk and R&B, will kick off starting at 7 p.m. with fireworks beginning at 9 p.m. Guests are invited to bring a blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy a stellar star-spangled experience.
    • Where: Duck Samford Park, 1600 East University Drive, Auburn
    • When: 6 to 9 p.m.

 

  • July 4th Boat Parade at Lake Martin, July 4
    • What: Independence Day themed- and decorated-boats will coast from Kowaliga Marina to Children’s Harbor. Judges will give awards for the best-decorated boats in various categories.
    • Where: Kowaliga Beach
    • When: 10 to 11 a.m.

 

  • Fourth of July Blast: Concert and Fireworks at Lake Martin, July 4
    • What: Watch the night sky over beautiful Lake Martin light up with patriotism at Russell Lands’ annual “Southeast’s Largest Fireworks Show” this Fourth of July. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with live music from The Bank Walkers starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by Sweet Tea Trio at 8 p.m. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. Bring a blanket, your favorite chair and turn your eyes to the sky for a fireworks spectacle unlike any other! Tickets are $10 per person with free admission for children 6 and younger.
    • Where: Lake Martin Amphitheater, 8878 Kowaliga Road
    • When: 5 p.m.

 

  • Patriotic Concert and Fireworks Show in Phenix City, July 4
    • What: Enjoy fireworks set to the backdrop of the banks of the Chattahoochee River at the Phenix City Amphitheater. Live music will start at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern), with the fireworks show over the river commencing at 9:30 p.m. (Eastern)
    • Where: Phenix City Amphitheater
    • When: 7:30 p.m. (Eastern)

 

  • Fair Tuskegee, June 29 to July 4
    • What: This free admission carnival happening over Fourth of July weekend is sponsored by Tuskegee Parks and Recreation and will include rides, games, fair food and more.
    • Where: Henderson Park
    • When: 5 p.m.-until (each evening)
