Burger Wars 2017, June 3

  • What: Professional and amateur tailgate grillers will compete to win Best Burger. Participants will compete for first through third place in pro and tailgater divisions. Taste-testers from the general public will also vote on a Crowd Favorite among all competitors.

  • When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Touch-A-Truck, June 3

  • What: Children are invited to interact with and explore all types of trucks and vehicles at this family friendly event.
  • Where: Downtown Opelika
  • When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Summer Swing, June 6, 13, 20, 27

  • What: Every Tuesday evening May through July, Opelika Parks and Recreation hosts a free outdoor concert at 7 p.m. in Opelika’s Municipal Park. The 13-week concert series features a range of musical genres including jazz, soul, R&B, oldies, blues, gospel, big band, country, folk and more. The May schedule includes, in order: Bill J. Brooks—ELVIS Lives!; Route 66; Martha’s Trouble; Conner Lorre—Neil Diamond & Friends Tribute Show
  • Where: Opelika Municipal Park, 1032 S. Railroad Ave., Opelika
  • When: 7 p.m. (hamburgers and hot dogs available from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.)
  • Cost: Free

The Belle Hollows in Concert, June 8

  • What: A standard on The Sundilla Radio Hour, The Belle Hollows now makes its Sundilla Concert Series debut. The three-person group formerly played together in the Nashville-based newgrass band, The Barrel Jumpers. Their debut album, Miller’s Creek, debuted at No. 2 on the Folk-DJ list and ended 2016 as one of the 40 most-played albums.
  • Where: Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 450 E. Thach Ave., Auburn
  • When: 7:30 to 10 p.m.
  • Cost: $12 advance; $15 at the door

SummerNights Downtown Art Walk, June 9

  • What: Walk, shop and dine in downtown Auburn during this event that brings together various types of artists from the region. The community is invited to decorate their bikes and strollers and join a parade that will start at 5 p.m. at Pebble Hill to kick off the event. The event will feature works by local artist, live music and children’s activities.
  • Where: Downtown Auburn
  • When: 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

2017 Lee County Tour of Homes, June 9-11

  • What: The 10th anniversary of the East Alabama Women’s Council of Realtors’ Tour of Homes, this event serves to showcase local real estate and provide insight into the latest trends in new construction homes on the market. Proceeds from the tour benefit a scholarship for the Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction.
  • Where: Addresses TBA
  • When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Cost: Free to the public

USA Men’s Team Handball vs. Puerto Rico, June 11-12

  • What: The USA Men’s Team Handball will take on Puerto Rico at Auburn University’s Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
  • Where: Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, Auburn
  • Cost: Free

Bee Auburn, June 19-23

  • What: A week-long celebration of bees and their impact on our history, health, culture, society and economy. The week will feature educational workshops, walks and activities culminating in a street festival-style block party in the Gay Street Municipal Parking Lot on June 23 from 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Where: Gay Street Municipal Parking Lot, Auburn
  • When: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

2nd Annual Make Music Day Alabama, June 20

  • What: Professional and amateur musicians, as well as the community are invited to attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the largest band playing together at one time. Last year, the event attracted 850 attendees, which came close to beating a 953-person record set by China. This year’s song will be Sister Hazel’s “All for You,” with Sister Hazel joining the party to play alongside all of the event’s participants.

  • When: 6 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Standard Deluxe Shows, June 25, 30

  • What: Enjoy an in-the-round concert with Brett McDaniel, Dallas Dorsey and Ben Sutton on June 25, while musical artists Rock Killough and Rick Carter rock out the lawn at Standard Deluxe print shop in Waverly on June 30.
  • Where: Standard Deluxe, 1015 Mayberry St., Waverly
