If you’re like most people, you love food. It allows us to feel full when we are hungry, it encourages us to get together with family and friends and it is typically the centerpiece of celebrations. As much as we love it, doesn’t food deserve a celebration of its own? For the first time, Downtown Auburn, Alabama will be hosting a week-long celebration of local fare with its inaugural Auburn Downtown Restaurant Week from June 18 to 24, 2017. Sponsored by the Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau and the Auburn Downtown Merchants Association, the food-themed event will promote the variety of fine and casual dining located in Auburn’s attractive downtown area.
Participating fine dining businesses will offer special fixed menus featuring three-course dinner for only $30. In addition, casual dining businesses are encouraged to offer specials on appetizers, drinks and desserts specific to the celebration. Specialty shops are also invited to participate during the week-long event by offering discounts on select items, and businesses who want to get involved in Auburn Downtown Restaurant Week will also receive promotional items, assistance with developing menus and will be promoted on social media.
With parking more plentiful downtown during the summer, event organizers hope Auburn Downtown Restaurant Week will draw a new crowd of patrons who don’t typically make their way downtown, as well as encourage locals to visit the restaurants and appreciate the culinary culture of their town. Food bloggers are invited to visit and blog about their experiences.
Restaurants currently expected to participate include:
- Acre
- Hamilton’s
- Moe’s BBQ
- Gigi’s Cupcakes
- Little Italy Pizzeria
- Tacorita
- Amsterdam Café
- Ariccia
