7 Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day 2017

Father's Day 2017

Maybe he was the guy that helped you learn to ride a bike or drive a car. Perhaps he was the one who walked you down the aisle or was in the waiting room to welcome your first born—or all of the above. If you’re lucky enough to have a stellar dad in your life, then tomorrow is the day we set aside each year to celebrate him—and the positive contributions he makes in your life. Haven’t yet figured out how to celebrate Father’s Day 2017? You can’t go wrong with one of these suggestions!

  • Fire up the grill. If the weather is nice, spend the afternoon grilling with dad. Pick out his favorite grill-worthy items, gather the family together and enjoy sitting on the patio while your food satisfyingly sizzles.

  • Work on a project together. Is there something around dad’s house that needs doing? Or perhaps you want to finally finish that garden bench you’ve been building forever. Make it a point this Father’s Day to either work together with dad or offer your services so that he can sit back, relax and enjoy the day.

  • Go fishing or golfing—or whatever dad prefers. Fishing, golfing—or whatever your dad’s passion is—spend the day doing it! Visit a spot that is an old favorite, or try out a new course or fishing hole. If it is an activity you know that dad already loves, then you don’t have to worry about striking out on making dad’s day a great one.

  • Take a day road trip. Sometimes there’s nothing better than just hitting the road with someone whose company you enjoy. Scope out attractions or historical sites in your area and set your destination. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the drive just as much as the place where you end up.

  • Attend a sporting event. Take dad out to the ball game! Even if the game does not fall on Father’s Day itself, you can celebrate later in the week or month when his favorite team is playing. Splurge on some tickets, and dad won’t be disappointed!

  • Watch a movie you both love. Maybe it’s raining, or maybe you and dad just feel like having a lazy Sunday on the couch. Either way, pick out a movie that you both enjoy—maybe one that you haven’t seen in a while—draw the shades and turn up the surround sound.
  • Let him choose. Give dad the power to choose whatever he wants to do on Father’s Day—whether it’s absolutely nothing or one of the ideas listed above. When it comes down to it, spending time with you is the fundamental part of all of these activities—and truly what dad will thrive on the most.

Here’s to wishing you and your dads a Happy Father’s Day 2017!
