Mother's Day

Though ideally we would let our mothers know how much we appreciate them year round, it never hurts to have a day set aside to fully focus on that fact. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and if you’re still thinking of what special thing you’re going to do for mom, consider helping her with a home project! Not only could this be a fun and productive activity to do together, but it will also help your mother relieve some stress knowing that she is able to check an item or two off of her home to-do list. Here are a few ideas for home projects to help mom with this Mother’s Day!

  • Tend to the garden and yard. Gardening is hard but rewarding work. Let mom put her feet up on the patio this Mother’s Day while you plant, mulch, weed or mow.
  • Clear out old clutter. Tackle those boxes in the garage or attic that mom has been meaning to go through. You and she could have fun looking through old photos, knick-knacks and memorabilia. Make a pile for trash, give away and keep—and sort accordingly.
  • Paint walls or furniture. Grab a brush and a paint color of mom’s choice and give the spare bedroom or that piece of salvaged wooden furniture a facelift with a fresh coat of paint.
  • Rearrange a room. Moving furniture around within a room doesn’t take up too much time or effort, but it can give a space a welcomed change of ambiance simply by switching the wall the couch and the TV are on, for example.
  • Clean the gutters. Do the dirty work so mom doesn’t have to! Get her gutters ready to handle spring and summer thunderstorms by spending some time on a ladder this Sunday.
  • Repair something. Offer to help mom make small repairs around the house. Maybe there is a squeaky door hinge, a window that won’t open, a leaky pipe or a toilet that won’t flush. Anything you can do to make your mom’s life easier would surely be much appreciated.

While helping with home projects is one way to show your appreciation for mom tomorrow, nothing can beat simply spending time with her! From the Ryan Roberts Realtor team—Happy Mother’s Day!
