Haven’t you always wanted to get up early on a Saturday morning, put on a ridiculous costume and jump into the icy waters of your neighborhood pool?

You’re in luck! Saturday, Jan. 28, you’ll have the opportunity to do just that—and for a good cause.

Tens of brave souls will throw themselves into Auburn’s Samford Pool Jan. 28 for the 5th Annual Auburn Polar Plunge—a benefit for the athletes involved in the Lee County Special Olympics. Last year, the event raised more than $12,000 for local athletes.

Interested parties can register for the plunge online, and then the goal is to get as many people as possible to sponsor your cold-water jump.

From the Chick-Fil-A cow to Captain America, participants’ creative costumes have come in all shapes and sizes over the years. Just make sure you can make it across the pool to complete the plunge!

Prizes will be awarded for those who raise the most money and for winners of the costume contest.

Why not do something semi-crazy for a worthy cause? You can click here to register for this fun and worthwhile community event.
